Class Careers

Between this week and next week we are starting up a class careers. We have to buy or rent out stuff we use everyday which includes our toe trays, bag places and even the computers Every one in the class found a career they liked and they wrote it down on a piece of paper. On that paper we had to write a description of the career and how much u get payed in a week or a fortnight. If we couldn't fine the weekly or fortnightly payment then they just wrote down the price that was already on the career, which was most likely to be how much they get payed in a year. When we finished writing them down we put them in a box and then the whole class sat down to wait for their turn to choose their classroom career. We couldn't see what our job was until we picked one paper up. The paper had the name of the job, how much you get payed and the description of the job. Some people didn't like their jobs until they saw how much they get payed.

House sports day

At the end of term 2 the whole school played sport through out the whole day. The games we had to choose from was netball at the Franklin netball courts or turbo touch on the school fields. The school house groups are Batten A and B which is red, Ngata A and B which yellow, Rutherford A and B which is green, Hillary A and B which is black and Shepard A and B which is blue. At the netball courts we had 3 or 4 teams in every house. I was playing netball for the day. From the beginning of the day the people that were playing netball met up at the school courts and started walking over to the Franklin netball courts when everyone was ready to go. When we got to the courts we all sat in our house teams and waited for our instructions and find out who was playing fist. After that our games started and team mates were cheering for their team. At interval and lunch we all sat down and had something to eat. When we all stopped eating the games started again. The Rutherford team were the loudest group cheering for their team while they were yelling and screaming the other houses were trying to beat Rutherford by trying to yell out their team name.

We started on Monday and we had to be finished by Friday that week because she was leaving and she had to mark it before she went. We had to do our news papers on our science board topic. I did mime on How many glasses of water the human should drink every day. So my news paper was the same topic. When the class started their draft copy I was away so when I came the next day I started drafting it. After 3 days I finished my news paper so I proofread it and then I started looking for pictures to go on there. I found 18 pictures but I only put 4 pictures on there. Then on Friday I was finished and Miss Morris printed it our and then she made a book out of it.

Student Teacher

In our class room 23, we have had a student teacher in our class called Miss Morris, she has been teaching us for a week. Miss Morris is on her 3rd year of teaching. When she has finished in our class she can have her own class to teach. She is a grate teacher and she is always willing to help people. Every time she comes in to our class she is always happy. Sometimes when you make her angry she gets really angry. She has also teaches us 3 science experiments and they were fun. When we have unfinished work she makes us stay in and finish it just like a normal class teacher. She also gives us work to do which is fun. When she leaves we will miss her and we wish her good luck with her future. Some of us know where she works and maybe we might see her there one day. Miss Morris is planning on teaching at intermediate schools with year 7 and 8 students. She really enjoys teaching.

Sence-Lang

On sence-Lang we go on there so we can get faster at typing and to get better at touch typing. On this website we can test how fast we can get through a line of words and letters and we can also play games that help us get faster at finding the letters on the keyboard. If you want to have lessons on touch typing this website can also help you because they have lessons that you can go on and help your self to. The lessons go up to lesson 15 and it starts from lesson 1. If you just want to play typing games this website can help you because not only does it let you have lessons it also lets you play games and there are 4 different games to play. They are Chameleon, Balloon, Paratrooper sheep and typing chef. When you first start playing a game it starts of slow and easy then it gets faster. There is a game called typing chef and you have to type out the words that come out and it starts of slow then when you get to about level 4 the words start falling and you have to make it through or else it is game over. The other 3 games are almost the same they are helpful for practicing the positions of the letters on the keyboard and the Chameleon games is helpful for practicing typing structured text, while improving on your speed and accuracy.

Science Fair

This picture is a dehydrated cartoon person.
My science fair topic is How many glasses of water a human should drink everyday. I started my science board 2 weeks ago and now I have finished it. I found lots of information on water and what it could do to you. I put the most interesting information on the middle part. Then I put the other information on the sides. I also found pictures and diagrams of water sources and water wells. The most interesting fact I found was that if you are dehydrated you could have problems with you kidneys. There was also a story and it went like this: On January 12, 2007, a 28-year old Californian wife with 3 children died in her home shortly after she took part in a water drinking contest that was sponsored by a local radio show. Entitled "Hold your wee for a wii," the contest promoters promised a free wii video game machine to the contestant who drank the most water with out urinating that is a story about why drinking too much water is dangerous. So when you don't drink water you could get dehydrated and if you drink to much water you could die. Most of the facts on my science board are facts I didn't really know but now I know lots of facts. I also found out the answer to my question and the question was How many glasses of water a human should drink everyday and the answer was 8 glasses or 2 liters.

Mentoring

In term 2 the year 8 mentoring group has put together a inter-class basketball and netball game for the year 7s and year 8s to play. We have made plans about the class draws and what class plays on what day. All games are on for 10 minutes each game and there are 2 games on at interval and 2 games on at lunch. Every day 5 the mentoring group meets up and plan what we are going to do next term and what jobs we have. We have made lots of plans just to get one and by the end of the day we have one draw done and the next time we meet we get another task to complete and then we put them all together and we have lots of draws for the term. This term we are making inter-block games and inter-class games. The games we are planing are fastball, handball, turbo touch and normal touch. Last time the mentoring group met up we split into 3 groups a group for inter-class stuff, another group for talent quest and the last group was for a touch moduel. We put handball, fastball, turbo touch and normal touch in one group, Touch moduel in another group and the talent quest in the last group. The mentoring group is also getting bigger and better at working as a team to get stuff ready for when we get started with the inter-class games. For me being in the mentoring group has changed me because I was quiet and shy last year but now I can talk in front of a group and to teachers.

Camp 2010

When the year 8s went to camp I was going to stay at school and not go but then after a few days I wanted to go. At camp we had two groups. We went to Totara Springs, the camp ground had lots of different things to go on and it was big. We didn't get to go on the bmx track because there was another school there as well. We all had fun over those 3 days. On the last day I couldn't wait to go home because I want to play on my x-box and have my phone back. Most of the year 8s wanted to take phones and psps but we wernt aloud. On the first night my group and some other groups slept in the cabins and the other groups slept in the tents on the other side. At Torara Springs there was a heated pool and trampolines there for the people that stayed there. There were activities all around the camp sites. On the last night we stayed down at the tents and we all sat around the fire. After that it was time to go to bed. The next morning we went back up to the top camp and we had breakfast and we finished of the last activities we had and then it was time to go back to home.

My Speech

My speech is about the Maori Battalion. I selected the Maori Battalion because I didn't really know much about them but now I know heaps. I thought about what to write my speech on and then I found a book about them and I thought I could write one on the Maori Battalion. When I first started writing my speech it was hard then I started getting more information and it became easy. Sometimes speeches are hard to write but if you know what you want to write about it is easy.

Book bags

At school we made a book bag out of A3 paper and it was really hard to make it if you weren't listening to the teacher. When we finished it we took it home for homework and we had to turn it in to a finished poject. The project was on what your favourite book was and the author. I did mine on Harry Potter and the author J K Rowling. For homework I wrote a plot about the book and glued it on the back of my book bag. I also made a commendation on the book and I wrote my best character and my not so best character. On my book bag I think I could do better and it would look better then how it is now.I think I could of put pictures on it to make it look better.

Zone softball

When the Pukekohe Intermediate school zone softball teams went to zone we were happy that we were going. We went with 2 teachers and went on 1 bus. I was one of the people that got in to the team. We took 3 teams to zone a year 7 boys team a year 8 boys team and a year 8 girls team. The year 7 girls didn't come. That day was a fun and challenging at the same time. The schools I could remember were Mansell Senior school from Papakura, Manurewa intermediate, Central, Green Meddows and there was other teams too. The only game I played in was with Mansell. That day wasn't so good because the year 8 girls had to run around and try find the year 8 boys to get our sports gear and run back to our team, we didn't have enough gear so we had to share with the other teams. The year 7 boys had there gear so we didn't go to them and they were on about the same time we were on and yeah. The year 8 boys were on the feild a little bit when we were. When it was lunch time we were in our school tent getting our lunch then we would go and find the year 8 boys to cheer them on and the year 7s would get there lunch and eat it by the tent. After a long day at softball we went back to school and we went home because school was over. So that was our day at zone softball.
